Social Media Manager

The British & Irish Lions are seeking to recruit a Social Media Manager to lead our online presence across multiple platforms. This role will be responsible for developing and executing social media strategies that build brand awareness, engage our audience, and drive measurable growth as we build towards the historic inaugural Lion’s Women’s Tour.

The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical, with a deep understanding of digital trends and building a community. The role will be a key part of the Lions Digital, Marketing and Communications (DMC) team, reporting into the Head of Digital and working closely with our Chief Marketing Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the Lions social media channels including social media strategy, content planning, channel management, community engagement and content creation.
  • Overseeing our relationships with social media agencies, designers and content producers to deliver industry-leading output for Lions channels.
  • Responsibility for developing our influencer and content creator programme.
  • Responsibility for insights, analytics and regular reporting on Lions social metrics.
  • Working closely with our commercial and charity partners to ensure our channels are reaching business objectives.
  • Close alignment with the wider DMC team to ensure alignment on all digital objectives.
  • Responsibility for our content plans with Lions Productions.
  • Project management on major moments and milestones in the Lions calendar.

Qualifications, Skills & Expertise

Expertise: The Lions are looking for someone who is an expert in all things social and content with a minimum of three years’ experience.

Planning: As the social lead for all content that is posted on our channels, this role will require someone who is meticulous in their planning and confident in overseeing a busy content plan.

Creativity: The Lions pride ourselves on being the best of best and this extends to how to operate on social platform. We are looking for a candidate with an excellent track record in social media in sport and who is creative when it comes to our approach to our socials.

Partner Management: The successful candidate will be confident and experienced in dealing with multiple agencies and partners.

Teamwork: This role will require significant communication with multiple stakeholders and so will require someone comfortable with working in a small team to deliver results.

Temperament: The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in working in a performance environment. Be energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas. Be resourceful, with a can-do attitude.

Innovative: The successful candidate will be someone who has an ambition to help identify new opportunities for the Lions to ensure that our offering is best-of-best in sport.

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Commencement: As soon as possible.
  • Location: Location: Flexible within Ireland or the UK. The Lions HQ is based in Dublin and if the successful candidate is based in Ireland, they will work from the office on a hybrid basis. If located in the UK, the successful candidate will mainly work from home with travel to London and Dublin as required.
